Don’t Forget to Upgrade to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)!

Don’t Forget to Upgrade to Google Analytics 4 (GA4)!

By Ryan Leisure, Senior Web Manager

If you haven’t heard by now, Universal Google Analytics will stop collecting data on July 1, 2023. It has been replaced with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), which is a completely new version, and action is required to keep tracking your website’s analytics.  Historical data will still be accessible in your Universal Analytics property for now, but no new data will show there. All new tracking will be done in your GA4 property.

If you haven’t already made the switch, you should do it now. Log into your Google Analytics account and you should see a prompt to make the switch. Google’s Setup Assistant makes it pretty easy and will copy over some settings for you. However, if you have advanced reporting or conversion tracking setup, you’ll need to set it up again in GA4.  But, other than that, there isn’t too much you’ll need to do. If you have the old version installed on your website using the Google Tag (gtag.js), you won’t even need to add new code to your website.
